(OS must be 32 bit)

Workstation Requirements

Processor: Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or better processor
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Hard Drive: 40 GB hard drive
Network Connection: 100 Mbps Network card
CD-ROM: 4x CD-ROM drive
Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional

Other Requirements:

Network/Cabling

Systems with two or more workstations should be networked with Category 5 UTP cabling and should be equipped with a 100 Mbps or faster network switch.

Backup System

Every network should have a tape drive backup system with a minimum 20 GB storage capacity, along with backup management/scheduling software. You should rotate backup tapes on a weekly basis.

Security

Every PC in your office should have antivirus software with automatic updating of virus definition files. We recommend Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition for server environments.

Remote Connectivity

Remote connections (that is, connections to the server from remote sites with a network connection other than a LAN connection) can be accomplished with the Tenmast system generally using the Remote Desktop capabilities inherent in the Windows XP operating system. In order to achieve satisfactory speed in the operation of our programs, the remote and main sites should have a broadband Internet connection with 1 Mbps capability or better. (Standard DSL or cable Internet access will work.)

In the case of a remote network that consists of more than ten remote access workstations, you may also want to consider the use of a Citrix network. Citrix performs the same function as Windows Remote Desktop, but it may be easier to implement for end-users in some environments. Citrix consists of a server application and client software, but unlike Remote Desktop, Citrix requires that you install software on the server and workstations in addition to the standard Windows installation. Citrix also adds to the cost of your remote network.
